Review of The Whisperer in the Darkness

By Rebecca Milne

An alright read for those who enjoy science fiction. However, it is rather quite difficult to follow and perhaps more prolonged than necessary. The story follows the correspondence of Wilmark and Akeley, and the discovery of the creature in the planet Yugoth, although now it is known as Pluto. The strange story is quite confusing, and longer than required, but does build up the mystery, the trust we have in Wilmark and repeatedly asks us to question Akeley's sanity. The ending is a bit anti-climactic. It is perhaps not the ending we expect, and therefore leaves a lot more questions than it answers. In addition to this, we do not really know if Wilmark's police interview was successful, or if they also though he was mad.
